Kidney Pelvis Cancer
Transitional cell cancer of the renal pelvis and ureter is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the renal pelvis and ureter. The renal pelvis is the top part of the ureter. The ureter is a long tube that connects the kidney to the bladder.

- Main symptoms are blood in urine
- Other symptom is pain at the side of abdomen
A variety of test can be performed. These may include CT scan, ultrasound, and urinalysis.
Treatment is laparoscopic nephroureterectomy
Laparoscopic nephroureterectomy is a surgery to remove kidney together with the entire length of ureter.
As compared to open nephroureterectomy that requires two long incisions, laparoscopic nephroureterectomy involve few small incisions. This will improve post-operative recovery and less pain.
